Welcome to our club.

North Country Appaloosa Club is a regional club located in Northern and Central Minnesota.  We are a group of Appaloosa lovers  dedicated to the promotion of the Appaloosa Horse and in support of Appaloosa members everywhere.  NCAC sponsors 2 shows a year.  We have an open show in June and our regional breed show is in July.  Our members are engaged in showing, barrel racing, dressage, trail riding, and simply enjoying our horses.

History of NCAC

The North Country Appaloosa Club was chartered over 25 years ago in Northern Minnesota.  Our club is working to promote the Appaloosa Horse in Minnesota.  We represent the Appaloosa breed at various horse expos in the upper midwest.  During the year we hold different types of fund raisers to help fund our programs.  We have started a 4-H recognition program for 4-H'ers who show their Appaloosas in 4-H shows.  We are always open to ideas to help promote the wonderful Appaloosa horse.  Of course we are always looking for volunteers who would like to join us in promoting this great horse.

Marge Kendall-Smith took this photo of Appaloosa President Frank Larabee when he joined us for the Minnesota Club Banquet in January.

The Appaloosa clubs of Minnesota had a booth at the Minnesota Horse Expo this year promoting our breed of choice.  The Expo started Friday, April 24th and went thru Sunday, April 26th.  This event is a huge fundraiser for the Minnesota Horse Council.

The babies are coming!  Here is a picture of a bright colored new colt sent in from Malinda Dexter.  The cold doesn't seem to be bothering him as much as it does us humans.

If you own horses, you might be interested in learning about the National Animal Identification System that USDA is proposing. NAIS includes premises registration and microchip ID for horses  It will have an effect on the way we manage our horses and their vacinations and coggins tests, taking them off our property for trail rides, shows, or involving our kids in 4H.  All horse movements will have to be reported within 24 hours of movement or there can be substantial fines.  Five states now have laws preventing NAIS from being mandatory. Web sites with information are www.nonais.orgwww.farmandranchfreedom.org, and www.westonaprice.org.   If you have any sites you would like to add, please e-mail the webmaster.

WSCA & CMHIA Open Show

We had a great turnout at our open horse show on June 13th.  We had a few minutes of rain, but that just helped keep the dust down.  Thanks to all the exhibitors for coming to our show.  Our next show is the Appaloosa Breed show at R & J Arena's newly rebuilt facilities.  It should be a fun and successful show and we look forward to seeing you there.
